Founder and Medical Director of the NeuroCenter

Dr. José L. Medina obtained his medical degree from the University of Seville, Spain, and his training in neurology at the Chicago Medical School where he is now a Clinical Professor of Neurology.

He was awarded a Fellowship in headache research by the Sandoz Foundation of New York. He is also the Director of Neurology at Methodist Hospital and an attending neurologist at Swedish Covenant Hospital.

He has written and lectured extensively on the subjects of neurology, pain management, and headache treatment, and is well recognized in these fields. Paired with a team of specialists, Dr. Medina ensures patients receive both high quality care and personalized attention.

"Pain is real. A person who reports having pain must be taken seriously. Persistent pain can cause anxiety depression, hostility, irritability, fatigue social withdrawal, and loss of productivity. Many times people are told, 'We can’t find anything wrong’ or ‘You are imagining the pain.’ “Such statements serve only to make the pain worse. We want to understand the person as whole and determine the impact pain has had upon that person’s total life. Our goal is to return every patient to meaningful daily function."
